Re: Golden BRICK Award

Thanks for asking.
The Awards ceremony and show was absolutely amazing. It was held at MTV studios and the Nokia Theatre in Times Square, NYC. I had to arrive on Monday to meet with wardrobe and have my consultation on what to wear….. Then I was there all day Tuesday to meet with the speech writers, practice, practice, practice, do hair and makeup, and hang out with the celebrity presenters and talent: LeeAnn Rhymes, Mandy Moore, Wyclef, Dashboard Confessional, Susan Sarandon,… the list goes on and on. It was so totally awesome to meet and hang out with the other BRICK winners. They are some of the most incredible people I have met. Then we had to do the red carpet outside of the theater in Times Square, with tons of media interviews and photo ops. We were on a lot of news shows, like E! and others. There was a swanky cocktail party beforehand (although we had to do media shots during most of it) and a dessert bar after. And the Awards show was just awesome. The set was built just for the Awards and was incredible, and the producer has done the last couple of SuperBowl half-time shows. It truly was like being at the Oscars or Emmys. The next day I went to a salon in NYC and had my hair bleached and dyed for the FRC Championships, and flew directly to Atlanta, for another awesome event!

Anyway, the first 10 minutes of the show is now on DoSomething’s website:

and, my award segment is there, in the first 10 minutes, so you can see it!

I did not receive a golden brick, but just getting the BRICK (and $10k for my organization) and being there was so cool. Oh, and I'll be on the back of Doritos Nacho Cheese bags starting in May sometime.

Thanks again, everyone in the FIRST community for all of your support and voting for me!
