Re: Graduating Seniors...

im one of the seniors on team 65 i hate that i have to move on i have been involved in my team in numerous ways and its really hard for me to leave but the best way for me to cope with the fact that i do have to move on is just thinking about the good times and thinking about the fact that i am a official alumni of the huskie brigade and a offical mentor all of our seniors plan to come back to mentor

Re: Graduating Seniors...

Our rookie year was last year and we had about 15 core members: 2 seniors, 3 sophmores, and the rest juniors. This year was a good year for us as 13 out of 15 core members returned and actually knew what we were doing. Now we're losing most of our dedicated members including: 3/4 drive team (driver, operator, coach), both programers, captains of devices and drivetrain, all but 1 of the people who can actually write (yuk!), and 3/4 of our leadership crew. Although we recruited many new members they haven't really had to go through build season with out guidance before.

Sadly I am one of the seniors graduating...
However, wo0t college!

Re: Graduating Seniors...

We're only losing 3 seniors this year, including myself. I'm more worried about when we lose next years senior class. I think we're going to be losing about seven people at the end of next year, including our awesome driver/captain/CAD expert Jeff. However, I will be mentoring next year, because four years in FIRST isn't enough, and I'm already outlining some of the knowledge that I will be passing on to our new members.

Re: Graduating Seniors...

I think 675 is only losing our programmer.

Most of our team is Sophomores, with one main Junior (he's the build leader) and a few freshmen (like Connor -- He's useful, man!).

Re: Graduating Seniors...

The seniors that we lose this year are pretty much the life of our team. We're losing a Captain, Driver, Driver, Person who designs the bot, human player, and their respective parents which help make this possible. Next year will be the hardest year to date because we lose the people who actually know what they're doing.

The rest of the underclassmen have some big shoes to fill. and we all know what big shoes mean...
...big socks.

Re: Graduating Seniors...

MORT is 'losing' around 10 Seniors this year... although I hope that myself and the rest of them will come back from time to time as alumni.

The three senior classes before mine were much larger, so this year won't be as devastating of a loss to our growth as previous years had been.

Re: Graduating Seniors...

Well, this coming season is going to be difficult for Team 4 considering we're losing quite a few of the lead roles in our team. Out of the 20ish members we have, we're losing 5 to college (possibly a few to local colleges, possibly coming back as mentors). We're losing our team captain, the three persons responsible for the past two years eletrical wiring, and one incredible machinist / mechanical student.

All in all we're losing at least one person from every aspect of our team, but that will only make the juniors and sophomores strive to work that much harder next year. Our team will mainly consist of seniors at that point, so we will also have to work twice as hard training the under-classmen to fill our roles once we graduate and go off to college. Hopefully, it will be an amazing year either way.

Re: Graduating Seniors...

We're losing one current member, and one who was a member in previous years but never showed up this year.

Not too shabby, considering the size of the team doubled at the beginning of this year, all underclassmen. We should only lose ~4 next year, even.

Re: Graduating Seniors...

88 currently has 14 seniors graduating (unless I missed one). It seems like a big number, but I suppose not for a team with 55 members.
We won't be losing any of the drive team, but we will lose several people who work on the robot, the webmaster (me, but I plan on sticking around), and the loudest craziest members that keep our spirit as high as it is.

Re: Graduating Seniors...

All 31 members of team 1717 are seniors, so next year's team will be starting completely from scratch (apart from the mentors of course). We're a perpetually rookie team. It's a steep learning curve, but I'm sure that all the members of the next 1717 generation will be able to build on everything we learned this year.

Re: Graduating Seniors...

Team 103 has 11 seniors graduating this year. That leaves about 20 kids for next year. The animation crew is down to 3 members out of 9, a huge loss for the them. But, the underclassmen have been trained well. In addtion, part of the drive team and the lead inventor crew members are graduating, too. Next year will be a lot of hard work for the members, but all have been trained well to make the transition as easy as possible.

Re: Graduating Seniors...

our team is losing most of our members as well, but most of us are coming back as mentors. I myself am cheating the system, because I will be staying at school for an extra year to work up my mark more. So in theory I will still be a student because I will still be in school, yet I have graduated... figure that out but if I can't then I mentor. Our team will only get bigger, none of us want to leave lol!

Re: Graduating Seniors...

Not only is team 1983 a rookie team, but we have zero, yes zero! graduating seniors. Our school, Aviation High School in Seattle, is only three years old, meaning that we do not have any seniors at all in the entire school. The now junior class, were the inaugural class back in 2004, so we have been the "seniors" the whole way through. We're looking forward to an awesome year next year having every one back for a second go around! Unfortunately that also means that we will have to eventually train totally new electrical, mechanical and people to design the shirts...
