Coming into robotics, I had always called them "tie straps" when using them in RC cars and such. My dad's an electrical engineer, and that's what he called them, so that's what I called them.
I'll never forget my first day, when we got to work on building the field, and our head of mechanical told me to give her some zip ties. "Some whats?" "....zip ties." "Oh you mean tie straps, right?" "....no, what the heck is a tie strap" I tried to maintain my terminology as long as I could.. but it was no use ![]() |
