Re: nfl draft

Yea. i mentioned it up there. Stupid Quinn, State had them beat, but John L. Smith decided he didnt want to win the game, so he went in to prevent defence and conservative offence.

Dolphins were among the worst but they did catch a break getting Beck in the second round, he was ranked by some ahead of Quinn.

I am not so sure the Patriots had the best draft weekend; they undoubtedly had one of the top two off seasons (Thomas, Welker, Washington, Moss, and Stallworth make for impressive additions.) but as far as actual Draft picks Meriweather at safety is the only name we are all going to hear on a weekly basis. The really important thing that the Patriots did is essentially defer their extra first round pick for a year, they just didn't need it.

Also I think it needs to be pointed out that the Patriots essentially got Moss by only trading their second first round pick this year for one next year, something they probably wanted to do anyway. (They got Moss for a 4th round pick that was part of the trade with San Francisco)

I wouldn't have put Quinn at number one, he isn't terribly accurate, but he has tons of potential and he certainly was not the 22nd best player in the draft.

As far as Smith being terrible that is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard, he most likely wont be a huge force in the NFL but he did have a great college career and if you recall he won a little Trophy because of it, bottom line is if he was a little taller he would have been up their with Russell and Quinn, Call it Flutie syndrome if you want.

I am personally ecstatic that my good friend Tony Hunt has been picked up by the Eagles, and will be here in my neighborhood soon!

Re: nfl draft

Koko Ed, I don't think bitter really captures the feelings of many Browns fans toward the Ravens. It's just too tame a word.

My brother is the head of nightime room service at the Ritz Carlton in Atlanta and Art Modell stayed at his hotel (switching hotles suddenly to eldue those "homicidal" Browns fans) and had well armed gaurds staying outside his room.
Browns fans are a blue colar lot and it's unlikely they would actually put together enough money to hire a killer or put together an elaborate scheme to assinate him. Now if he was actually dumb enough to show up at the Browns stadium well, let's just say all bets are off.

Re: nfl draft

I'm sure it won't take more than another dozen or so years before the anti-Model fervor dies down some. Then again, did Irsay ever go back to Baltimore after "The Move?" At least the Browns own the history of the Browns. Maybe one season in the future they'll win a few games. Go Quinn! (Side note: Since Quinn is from one of our high schools, any comments about him from 1014 need to taken with a grain of salt.)
