Segway bashing on Gothamist

http://www.gothamist.com/2007/05/07/segways_still_r.php

Segway users, and by extention, FIRSTers, are being repeatedly bashed on Gothamist right now. I say we take over that comment thread, CD style. And, for the record, this is an act of gracious professionalism...in an ungracious manner.

You know, they're not attacking FIRST at all. Just the Segway. It seems hard to summon up any indignation on Segway Inc.'s behalf.

Re: Segway bashing on Gothamist

Sorry, if you want to be "green", get off your butt and ride a bike.
QFT.

You may not electrically charge your heart, but you do need more food when you ride. How do you think that food gets to you? Gasoline-fueld [sic] trucks. Diesel railroads. Container ships burning heavy fuel oil. How do you think that food is raised? Diesel tractors, threshers and other farm equipment. The human body is also a very inefficient machine when it comes to the food we use as fuel. Your personal carbon footprint is far bigger than you think.
I'm thinking the human body is a little bit more energy efficient than any powerplant. Plus theres the health aspect.

I think a majority of those people have valid points, but express them in a little more... "flavorful" way.

"Everyone on this forum is bashing Segways, lets gang up and tell them."
"Everyone on this forum is praising Segways, lets gang up and tell them."

Its a moot point anyways, I doubt those people care enough to bother signing up over here.

They don't seems as rude as that group that swarmed us from Flashplayer last year.
That was a nasty group of brats.

Re: Segway bashing on Gothamist

Just because Segways were invented by Dean Kamen, the FIRST founder, doesn't mean that FIRSTers, or Chief Delphi users, have the responsibility to defend them at every possible moment, nor the right to assume that a "segway basher's" opinion is wrong. It's their opinion, they are entitled to it.

Re: Segway bashing on Gothamist

A couple of my favourite quotes, that really apply here.

"Don't try and teach a pig to sing, you'll only waste your time and annoy the pig."
"You can't get water from a stone."

Honestly, the chances that these people are actually going to listen to anything you say is slim to none. No need to stoop to their level.

Karthik,

We farm boys say it like this:

"Never wrestle with a pig. You'll both get dirty, and only the pig will enjoy it."

Also, Karthik, from my experience, not much annoys pigs. However, your singing would do the trick. That quote works for you.

Re: Segway bashing on Gothamist

Reading their thread really makes me appreciate CD even more. A bit of culture shock for me - mostly due to their lack of culture, respect and communication skills.

I'd rather not invite that crowd to this forum - I just don't see any value added.

Karthik: you've heard pigs singing? I thought they just go BOOM !

My english teacher has some pretty good quotes he tells us.

One of my favorites;

"Think of how hard it is to change yourself. Now, what makes you think your words have a chance change others" - Unknown (as in I forgot).
