Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

...when you go to the dentist and they say "here are your glasses, sorry they're scratched" and you say, "oh that's alright I've got my own," which you pull out of your purse your pristine, shiny, streamlined personal safety glasses signed by Dean Kamen and Woodie Flowers, and they just stare....

(did I mention that my dad's a dentist, and I've known this hygenist since I was born, but I haven't seen them since I started robotics in January... too busy... lol)

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

.....When you spellcheck your Philosophy essay and you realize that you have many cases in which you've capitalized all the letters in the word FIRST.

i.e. "In Thomas Hobbe's FIRST work of philosophical theories,.."

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

You are watching a basketball game and the score is like 33 to 25 with 3:65 left in the quarter or 47 to 45 with 11:14 left in the quarter and the FIRST thing you think about is FIRST.

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

... when you don't have any homework and finally might be able to get a little sleep, but you stay up later than usual thinking about your FIRST related senior project and surfing CD...

...when you finally realize that FIRST is really like a cult --once you're in, you really can never leave

...when you're almost late to get back to the meeting after dinner because you're busy talking about college plans with a freshman and sophomore that you drove to dinner

...when you finally also realize that FIRST has become you're true family, not to mention that you pretty much live with the team and not with those people who are technically your family just because you share some genetic patterns....

How do you have 3:65 left?

haha....you know you've overdosed on FIRST when...
.... you're non-FIRST friends don't see you except walking in the halls betweenclasses during build season.

....when the season is over you feel this giant void inside like your life is over...

...when you finally get over realizing that your life isn't going to end, you realize that your life is suddenly boring and you have nothing to do in your spare time except plan and program (and even sometimes build) for next year, not wven knowing anything about it.

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

...when you write your essay for a program in the marketing department at college and talk about Mission Mayhem.

...when you take your mom's car to the car wash and realize "Hey, those wheel scrubbers are four-bar linkages!"

...when you fill two 1 GB memory cards on your camera, and then some, at the Championship, just on Saturday.

Re: You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

...you spend half of your Pre-Calculus class talking about robotics with the teacher and the rest of the class hoping to recruit new members

...the next week, you again spend about 15 minutes of the same class comparing why students should come to robotics in the fall rather than hassling with marching band tryouts/workouts all summer

...you realize that you wrote all of your essays for a summer program about robotics and weirdness...and it worked!

...you can finally talk about robotics in your German/English class without annoying the teacher

...you insert "If you were in robotics, you would know what we were talking about..." regularly into conversation to spark interest

Okay, I've got an interesting one...

This past weekend I was booking travel accomodations for when I go to CMU this summer. After booking my plane ticket I was searching for ground transportation from the airport to campus on the Port Authority website. Under the bus section I see Rack N' Roll under their customer info section and immediately think "OMG they have a FIRST bus! I must get on it! I don't care where it takes me!!" I click on the link...turns out that it is just the name of their program where you can put your bike on the front of the bus.

On my Spanish PALS yesterday, I filled up four or five of the necessary 15 sentences talking about robotics. The topic I was writing about was my daily routine.
