Did you call the Super 8 Castleton directly and ask for the IRI rate? I think queen suites (2 queen beds, pullout sofa, fridge, and microwave) are going for $69 + tax. I believe there are cheper rates for smaller rooms, as low as $49 a night for a single.

We've stayed at both the Super 8 and Candlewood. Both are clean and suitable hotels, if you're not looking for the Ritz. The Candlewood is slightly better quality but is also more expensive. It's also more of a standard hotel with a single building and room doors opening into interior hallways, while the Super 8 rooms are divided into a number of 2-story buildings with doors opening to the outdoors. The Super 8 has an outdoor pool and offers a complimentary continental breakfast.

I didn't. I was getting $80 including taxes from various online sites, and $67 for AAA members I believe. But hmm, $69 for a room that sleeps 4+....

Which airlines are you guys looking at? I looked up Southwest (as their usually pretty cheap) and they have it at about $360 for a round trip.

I'd like to take that roadtrip, however that would require finding at least a few other people from who want to go and have the time to kill. I doubt I'll find enough of those within my team. Anyone down for a 30 hour roadtrip?

Thanks.

Team 537 plans on taking a camping trip. There is a campground about 1/2 hour away from the event. This cuts way down on cost since we can probably fit our whole travel team (about 10-15 for IRI) into 1 or 2 20 dollar campgrounds

They actually said 6 per room was ok - you should call to confirm that. I think they're bonkers to allow 6 typically-insane FIRST children to occupy one room, but hey.

I think it was Airtran. I've been searching for flights using www.qixo.com and www.kayak.com.

SFO is by far the cheapest airport in the Bay Area. SJC and OAK were both around $100+ more than SFO, with non direct flights.

Wow. $239 it is. My chances of coming to IRI just increased. A lot.
Awesome. Thank you very much.

Re: 2007 Indiana Robotics Invitational

Forgive me if this question has already been answered, but what are the rules on safety glasses in the pits and on the field at IRI this year?

My guess would be the same as any other regional; must be worn at all times on the field and in the pits *shrug*

The KOA is a very nice campground. I stayed there last year, but it rained so much that our tents flooded and we missed half of the Saturday competition. Team 107 will be staying there, too, and my parents and I will probably visit them on Friday night.

Re: 2007 Indiana Robotics Invitational

I'm not sure if i understood your question,

I think you were asking: "when will i know what match numbers my team will be participating in?"

If thats the case, then its just like another FRC competition (like the St. Louis regional, for example. You just show up with your robot, team, and GP, and there will be a match schedule there for you.

Best of luck to everyone at the IRI!

This is going to look spam-tastic, but I promise it's not!
Remember for convenience, once you've sorted out your travel plans, come post in the IRI Travel Arrangements Thread, so we can all figure out rides to/from the airport together.
