Re: Moving music from Ipod to computer

If you're using a Mac Senuti will let you transfer music from your iPod. If you're using Windows, EphPod should work.

Re: Moving music from Ipod to computer

I use Sharepod, it's a small app that you put on the iPod so you can move the music onto any computer you connect to.

Re: Moving music from Ipod to computer

I use Sharepod also, but I find that it's too inconvenient because you can't change the song info on the ipod, unless I'm missing something...
The other program I'm beginning to use more is Yamipod, which I find is a lot easier to use. If I want to download some music from somewhere else, Sharepod's the way to go.
I can't use Itunes because I'm running Windows ME (which is old as heck) I need a new computer...
Both programs can extract music from the iPod.

Don't set to manually manage music. I believe that's to use your ipod as a flash drive for just storing media.

PM me here or IM me on AIM and I'll help you later tonight.

I love that ipods don't come with instructions in the package..
Lame. <rolls eyes>
Everything I've learned about transferring music, I've asked friends about.

I have my iPod Nano set to manually manage music as well, but I found another way to access the music on the iPod. If you go into Windows Explorer, then go into Folder Options, check the "Show Hidden Files" option. Then go to "My Computer", then whatever you named your iPod, then go into the hidden "iPod_Control" folder, then the "Music" folder.

All the music on your iPod will be in here in subfolders, just with random names like FLXC.mp3. (But all the important iD3 info about the file is still there.)

I don't think you really need instructions for an iPod. You just plug it in, and it works.

Yea I did that last night, but the ipod still have the playlists on it and it "thinks" it has the music on it.

Re: Moving music from Ipod to computer

I just try to avoid IPods. They annoy me because they take over everywhere and you can't find anything else for mp3 players, forcing you to buy the IPod.

Re: Moving music from Ipod to computer

Here's the solution I chose: Rockbox.

Rather than having to deal with the annoying and slow Itunes interface, this just plays the music out of a filesystem inside the Ipod. Basically, you have a portable hard drive that plays music. It's quite nice, as you can put music on and off it whenever you have a USB capable computer.

Re: Moving music from Ipod to computer

You can do it from iTunes without any hassle at all!!
1.Make sure that everything that you want is on your iPod and delete everything from your library. (This is just to clean it up or back up the iPod)
2.Click on File and then on Add folder to Library. Wait until it copies all of the names of the songs to your library.
3.Click on advaced and then on Consolidate Library. This will then copy all of your music into your music folder onto your hard drive.

That's it! I have did this many many times even though when you ask Apple, they say that it is impossible.
