USB To Serial

Ive been trying to use a usb to serial adapter to program the robot, but its not working,

on ifi loader you have the option to use com port 1 - 12

under properties of my device it says Port_#0001.Hub_#0002

Any one know how to get it to work?

Re: USB To Serial

What usb to serial are you using? For the vex adapter, I went into the device manager in windows. To get into the device manager, right click on my computer and go to the hardware tab and click the device manager tab. Go to the ports section, and see where your serial adapter is. Then go into IFI Loader and click the matching port. Make sure you have the correct drivers installed too.
Good Luck,
Malhon

Re: USB To Serial

Typically, those use either COM3 or COM4 selected from the IFI_Loader PortSettings pull-down.
Try each one by selecting it then trying to Download. Make sure the RC is set to program mode first.

Re: USB To Serial

I have one of those, it was COM4. Also, my laptop was funny about which usb drive it was plugged into (although it shouldn't have made any difference), caused much frustration to some people.

I remember that if you use hyper terminal, the device should show up there as one of the options to connect to. Hope that helps.
