Re: Summer Movies 2007

spiderman 3 was great but i didnt like the ending. i will probably end up seeing transformers but w/e, i dont have that much of an interest in it. as for harry potter, it comes out on my bday so i have no choice but to go see it lol. some of my good friends really like the series. that is very true, summer movies dont have much to choose from.

They say this one is being released this summer but I doubt it'll make it to Rochester.
I'm probably more likely to get it on DVD.

Re: Summer Movies 2007

For everyone saying that this isn't a summer for movies, just be glad you're not working in one. (Like yours truly) However, getting to see the movies for free definitely helps the wallet.

I saw Spidey 3 and I liked it. Granted, there were parts I didn't like (Emo Parker, Dunst "singing" (if that's what you can call it) and the "ending" (I won't ruin it for people who haven't seen it yet)) BUT the Bruce Campbell cameo was out of this world.

Pirates, I'll see it, only because I'm going to show it for my staff.

Other than that, the movies I want to see are: Simpsons, Harry Potter, Live Free or Die Hard, Ratatouille, Rush Hour 3, and a few others.

Compared to previous summers, this summer could very well be one of the biggest in Hollywood history. Only time will tell.

Re: Summer Movies 2007

Looking at this 9 minute clip of Pixar's newst pic Ratatouille I suspected that it would be good due to Pixar's linage and the awesomeness of Brad Bird but now I think this film has the potential to be my favorite film of the year!

Re: Summer Movies 2007

I went and watched Pirates 3 with Joe Matt, his sister and her friend and it was a great time, the movie is like 8345008934580 hours long it seems, 2 hours and 45 minutes exactly, and it has many different plots and twists to it but the action is great, Capt sparrow is once again great and a fun movie to watch.

Spiderman 3 didn't do it for me, I did not like much of the plot other then the action scenes.

I really want to see Die Hard 15, Live Free Die Hard.
Harry Potter and a few others that I can't remember right now.

Saw Pirates yesterday...didn't like it a whole lot. I'm loosing intrest in all series that go over 2 (except spiderman, starwars, and 007). Haven't seen Shrek yet but my friends didnt like it too much.

Re: Summer Movies 2007

This is the summer of the sequel.
This one isn't getting the hype that the big three in May are getting but it was big in Russia. Day Watch (sequel to Night Watch).

I just saw Ratatouille, and I was mesmerized by this movie. Given the species of the main character and the movie's name, one might expect it to be about rats, but it's not. It's about love. The characters' love of creating fine food, their love for each other (well some of them, anyway) and illustrating it all, Brad Bird and his cartoonists' obvious love of their art. Throughout this visual and emotional feast the animation is seldom cartoonish or extravagant, but rather is used to accentuate the story. It captures the imagination and subtly leads you into the story.

[tiny spoiler ahead] One of my favorite scenes is early in the movie, when Linguini is supposed to dispose of Remi, but lets him free instead. Remi dashes off, but then has a change of heart and cautiously returns. The artists blew me away with how they captured his wary return through the shadows under a bridge by the Seine.

Though Cars has arguably better jokes and way more flash, Ratatouille's depth in both animation and script make it my all-time favorite animated movie.

Re: Summer Movies 2007

Me and Kristian Calhoun saw, by far, the best (Bollywood) movie of the year! For his birthday, we went to see Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.

It was a fantastic movie with many entertaining dance numbers! By far, the best subtitles I have ever seen in a movie.

Forget Transformers, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom is the movie to see!

I can't believe anyone would rather watch a Bollywood movie over almost any American films.

My view on Bollywood:
A.) As an Indian, I am expected to see Bollywood films and love them.
B.) Many Bollywood movies were good until the past few years where the same love theme has been tortured out of its misery and burnt alive.
C.) Movies like Sholay (ooold school), Lagan, and Kal Ho Na Ho are left to represent Bollywood and India because they are good, and they are very good with British/European audiences, and are slowly growing among American audiences.
D.) 3 HOURS!!!!!! 3 WHOLE HOURS!!! That is the REQUIREMENT!! '
E.) Amita, Shahrukh, Ashwaria and Preity and others are why some people still see some of those movies.

The comment:
Only if you appreciate romance movies you would enjoy Bollywood (in its current state). For those of you that like sports, Lagaan was nominated for some best foreign film years ago. Honestly, I haven't seen a movie since Kal Ho Na Ho and my brother says I haven't missed anything so I'm not gonna waste my time. I'd rather Transformers.

Side Note:
If you would like to see a Bollywood film please consider seeing Lagaan ("Tax/Taxes") if you like sports or Kal Ho Na Ho ("Tomorrow May Or May Not Be") if you like romace/sad movies, or Sholay ("Flames") if you like action and humor.

A.) Alexa and I are not Indian, but we thoroughly enjoyed Jhoom Barabar Jhoom! 5 stars!
B.) Several Indian friends of ours have said that they would not go see a Bollywood movie themselves.
C.) The leading female role in JBJ was a British woman, and there were many references to France, Britain, and the US (Hollywood)
D.) JBJ was approximately 2.5 hours - fairly long.
E.) We plan to see Chak De India next!
