153 was, as I recall, a team that helped 341 get off the ground shortly before it disbanded; 341 has been known to campaign a second robot under that number in off-season events (Duel 2006 comes to mind).

Wicked sweet!

Or because it's the WRL, would that mean our team name is SUG?

Re: pic: Crowd Watching WRL Finals

I'd be interested in learning how our team number was selected.

Was it random, or is there some significance?

Back in the day, before I was involved with team 228, I believe the team attended one of the first PARK events and was a 1 seed. I don't know if this had anything to do with it.

Re: pic: Crowd Watching WRL Finals

Some of the numbers were random and others were not. I always remembered how nice GUS was to our team during our first few years of existence.

Yes 153 was our sister team from Raritan, NJ. They eventually disbanded.

Sadly Team 225, (the hero team in the film) also disbanded. We made them the heroes, in honor of them and to recognize the help that former 225 coach Ron Karpinski contributed to our movie project.

One of the team shirts (yellow) was Team 103. This movie would not have been possible without the continued help of the Cybersonics.

We are also looking forward to filming at Palisades HS workshop (home of 103)for build season scenes later this month.

We also tried to remember local teams with the pit placards. (103, 272, 433, 357, 1218, 45, 365, etc. ) Although only a few will probably show up in the movie.

We made a 16 table, mock pit area, but the film crew rearranged everything form its original configuration. So there is no telling which team numbers will end up in the movie.

Sorry I have not replied earlier but I just finished my 15th continuous 12 hour day working on this film. I'm shot. But my part is essentially done and most of what has to be filmed is the family drama portions. I will try to provide updates as we move along and post a few more pictures.

Thanks for your interest!

Al

Re: pic: Crowd Watching WRL Finals

It is wonderful to learn how the teams are honored in different ways in the film but it is sad to learn that some that are being honored have disbanded and are no more. The passion and memories will live quietly through these efforts.
