Download MPLab

Is this the place to go to download the latest version of MPLab so I can program the 2007 robot?

I know that the software will probably only work for 30 days without a license key.

Re: Download MPLab

You need both MPLab and the C18 compiler. MPLab is free and that download you linked should work (you can also use later versions).

The C18 compiler is not free. You need to use version 2.4, which has come in the kit every year for the past few years. If your team has misplaced all your old CDs, you can purchase it from Innovation FIRST (for much cheaper then the full retail version). There is a student trial version of C18, but it is version 3, which will not work for the robot.

Where do I get the later versions?

Re: Download MPLab

I did a search on the microchip website for the c18 compiler. Once you find the page do download it, you need to set up a microchip account to show that you are a student. Then you can download the newer versions, but as Joe said, it will not work with the robot.

Later versions of C18 won't work. The latest version of MPLAB is here: http://www.microchip.com/stellent/id...&part=SW007002

You can get a 60 day trial student version 2.40 of the c18 compiler, which will work to program the robot, here: https://jvex-robotics.dev.java.net/f...c18_240_se.zip

That's exactly what I did. It works great too. So you can just download a trial version of EasyC for FRC and install it, download and install MPLAB IDE, link your MPLAB project to the compiler in the EasyC directory, and you just got yourself a free programming environment
