You need both MPLab and the C18 compiler. MPLab is free and that download you linked should work (you can also use later versions).
The C18 compiler is not free. You need to use version 2.4, which has come in the kit every year for the past few years. If your team has misplaced all your old CDs, you can purchase it from Innovation FIRST (for much cheaper then the full retail version). There is a student trial version of C18, but it is version 3, which will not work for the robot. |
