Best clothing to wear during active sports?

Rollerblading, biking, things like that.

What's the most comfortable to wear, and also doesn't leave too much room for wind resistance?

It's summer time, I've taken up rollerblading on the linear paved trails nearby, and wearing a team T-Shirt (while cool) is just way to wind resistive for my liking.

Underarmor is more for winter months, so what the heck should I get for the 85+ degree heat in the summer?

(And don't even recommend bike shorts.. been there, done that, never found them too comfortable. lol)

Re: Best clothing to wear during active sports?

Check out some biking jerseys. Not only do they stay close to the body, wicks off any sweat, and keep you cool, but they also have three cool pockets in the back so you can keep some snacks, you cell phone, and a wallet in there too!
Just go to your local bike store, or a bike store in the closest large city, and they should have some bike Jerseys. Plus, they have all sorts of designs for them. Mine is a "Pick and Chew: Making scabs since back when" one. I'm known for Newton's First Law of "An object is in motion until acted upon by an outside force" (my definition of it anyhow)

Elgin,

Underarmor has a "heat gear" line of products that is probably up your alley.

If you want to rollerblade around without looking like you missed the exit for the Tour De France (or maybe you do... thats cool too ) look into finding a simple Coolmax, or other similarly branded Tshirt. Same thing as a regular Tshirt, except it breathes and wicks away sweat. Should also stay a lot drier than a cotton tee.

They make UnderArmour for summer, too.

Find those shorts to be uncomfortable? Try a Speedo! On second thought... I don't even want to think about that for a second time.

Memories, memories .

Quote from guy down in Texas at the Pie Company with southern accent- "Yeah, about 8 guys came in yesterday that looked like some Lance Wanna-Bes and ordered 2 Personal pies for the whole group"

The personal pies were small ones to. One slice was about half the size of a normal slice of pie.

Anyways, back to the topic. I love under armour shirts. Not all of them are for cool days. I have a few shirts that are light weight, cool, and wicks off the sweat. But they don't have the cool pockets that bike jerseys do .

Edit: Here's a pic of the Loose Under Armour Gear and the Tight Under Armour Gear. Both should keep you cool.

Re: Best clothing to wear during active sports?

I wear underarmor for my running and biking stuff, as well as Martial Arts training in the gym, and the loose fit stuff is perfect for the summer. I only ear a tight fit T-shirt from them if I'm doing grappling.

But anyway, go for UnderArmor, their stuff is quite nice. You can look up some of their stuff in most places that carry football gear, as they're great for hot days.

Re: Best clothing to wear during active sports?

Underarmor is good stuff. Helped during Lacrosse practice back in the day. I also sometimes just wore a tanktop. When I cycle, I wear either the padded bikeshort or swimming jammers (like extended speedos). They all breath pretty nicely. For jerseys I have my fair share of them, although I don't have the Team Discovery blue jersey, but I have the black lucky 13 road one. Sometimes if it's just too hot, I let my back tan.

What's nice about compression gear is that if you need to cool off a bit, you can just roll the sleeves up. But yeah, cycling apparel might be a bit much for blading, so under armor is probably the way to go. Woo for summer activites

I have some shorts for tennis that are like a mix between normal tennis shorts and basketball shorts. They are really nice. I think they are Nike. Those might help you out...

Re: Best clothing to wear during active sports?

umm well i just wear a tshirt and shorts that go halfway to my knees. I run cross country so underarmor boxers help stop chafing. also i prefer the shorter shorts because they are cooler.

Re: Best clothing to wear during active sports?

Elgin - here is a basic guide to active wear. My source is backpacking experience (hiking requires a lot of similar stuff) and a lot of running and tennis.

Synthetic fabrics are great for active sports - they dry quickly (especially if you sweat a lot when it's hot or want to take a quick shower under a sprinkler), and they wick away sweat (as somebody mentioned earlier). Go for 100% nylon, or something similar like that.

Other people have mentioned wearing underarmour leggings that go to the knee. These are very useful for comfort reasons (for both guys and girls I hear), and prevent chafing if you're running, hiking, etc. Wear them under shorts of any sort, and you're set. If you can get something like capilene (Patagonia and other outdoor brands sell it), especially for warm weather, you'll be cooling off your body as you go and it feels great. You can find these leggings anywhere from Target (not too expensive) to expensive outdoors stores.

I have pretty high quality expensive leggings that I use, Capilene Level 1, full length down to my ankles. I wore them hiking in 80 degree weather, and I run in them in 40 degree weather as well, so they're pretty versatile. Shorter ones are better for summer though

Have fun!

Here's an under armor-like shirt that has pockets in it.

I prefer dressing up like Harry Potter, The robe keeps me nice and sweaty, a little hot, but i can always pull out my wand and make it cold.
