New Ipod?

I have been seeing this picture all over the internet.... Is this truly the new iPod or is it just a joke?

DUDE! As much of a rep I have with Apple, I have actually been thinking about getting a video (because I know they are reliable. So many friends with them, I know), and if this is the new one, then I'll buy! It is very possible that it is the next Ipod coming out.

See the rumor that I heard is that Ipod just signed a contract with a "Scratchless Glass Company" for the use of the I-Phone, and the I-Pod, so If this new I-Pod has a wide screen display, and is fully touchscreen, I totally agree, I will definitely buy one.

That is going to be ridiculous! Widescreen, all of it touch controlled, and it will probably have a ridiculous amount of storage space, too. Now I can't wait to see the full specs on it!

This picture has been out since about a year after the release of the iPod video. There is even a movie of it in use on you tube, (http://youtube.com/watch?v=B1H_d_7CVPc). I don't believe that this is it as it looks too much like the iPhone, but you never know!!

I'd place a fair amount of money on betting that the next version of the iPod, which will either be co-released or released after the first revision of the iPhone will feature a full touch screen interface, like the iPhone does currently.

You can never be too sure... I mean look at the iPhone, it looks very similar to this rumored 'new' iPod, and it has relatively no storage space (Once all of the default firmware and such is loaded). But it would be cool to see a new item, that looks good, works well, and still has a lot of memory available.

I am sure that if this were the real ipod that it wouldn't have all of the phone electronics inside, which would leave more room for storage space, but wouldn't it be sweet if you could like stream music to it, for like say 10 bucks a month. I am sure that that technology isn't that far away.

The iPhone also does have a lot more crammed into it, so it takes away from physical space to add more possible storage space...if that makes sense..(Been up for too many hours)

So what do you guys think the next gen ipod will use for storage, flash or HDD?

What? Where? When?

This is largely BS, contracts are highly confidential, and knowing Apple, they signed a contract for a specific product they offer at a certain price, NOT to produce products for certain devices. You don't sign contracts with Intel to put procs in each specific machine, you just buy a contract that says you'll get x amount.

And finally, for the love of god, it's iPhone. iPod. 6 years people with the iPod. 11 years with the iMac. You think people will finally get the hint on how to correctly write the product name.

I am perfectly happy with my 80GB video ipod. although that "new" one would be pretty cool, just not for me.

I'm calling image Photoshopped, as they used the wrong font on the screen. Normally iPods use Podium Sans, but the font in the above image (for song title, artist, and album, as well as time and volume) looks like Arial or Tahoma. (They left "Now Playing" as the correct font.)

Also, the iPod body is exactly the same as the iPod Video. I would think if a wide-screen iPod were to come out they would also change the body style. Every new generation iPod that has yet to come out always featured a new body. I'd almost think that Apple might use a anodized aluminum body, like the Nanos and Shuffles, to add color to the new iPods.

And last but not least, Arctic Monkeys would be an unusual band for Apple to put on a iPod graphic image. If the Artist was something like U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gorillaz, Macy Gray, Cold Play (e.g. basically bands that Apple typically uses) and if the movie was Pirates of the Carribean, Cars, or The Office (again, movies/shows that Apple typically uses in iPod and iPhone ads), then it would seem more real. In this image, I think the Photoshopper just used their favorite band and movie.


Not that I'm doubting that there will be a wide/touchscreen iPod released soon. On the contrary, I would think that it would be inevitable that they would do so, as they haven't introduced a new iPod Video in quite a while.
