Fisher-Price Motors
Hey, does anyone know a web site where you can buy Fisher-Price motors? Or possibly a store where you can buy them. People have said go to a Fisher-Price distributor of course but where is a fisher price distributor?

Re: Fisher-Price Motors
IFI is probably your best bet, unless you call fisher price customer service and ask for a replacement part. To fisher price its a replacement part be sure to have model number on hand

Re: Fisher-Price Motors
IFI doesn't sell the Fisher Price motors; well, at least the smaller 550 can size ones. They do sell the "big CIM". Getting a FP motor from a dealer can be a pain, but keep trying (and remind whomever your talking with that it is FP's corporate policy to deal with FIRST teams). Also, be sure to get the EXACT model you need per year, the first set we got were the incorrect kind and therefore illegal.

Re: Fisher-Price Motors
Or.... You can do what I did, but they may not be competition legal.
A neighbor down the street moved out, a new neighbor moved in. 2 weeks later an old abandoned Barbie car was set out for trash. Turns out the direction selector switch in the car is situated in a well and it filled with water from being left outside. The water rusted out the contacts on the switch. Result? Broken toy. The FP motors, wheels, axles, and battery were in great shape. Add a couple speed controllers, RC controller, a new platform, and you have yourself a robot that will traverse any surface. Or you can just salvage the motors. They are the same if it's a 12V battery. |

So it's not like I own Fisher Price store - we just happened to have had a pair with some modification invested that we didn't want to see go to waste. Last edited by Jack Jones : 01-08-2007 at 00:23. |

Re: Fisher-Price Motors
Check around your local hardware stores. Last time we used the small F/P's about 3 years ago we were pleasantly surprised to find a small local hardware store that services Power Wheels vehicles and they had some extra motors.
I'm pretty sure we got the initial lead from the Power Wheels people by asking them for help finding a local repair service. |

Re: Fisher-Price Motors
Try searching on google or on yahoo auctions/stores. We needed motors and transmissions for a project at my college and we found some good deals on yahoo.
Now that I think of it, does banebots sell them? or is it just the same case? -John |

Fisher-price makes tens of thousands of these cars, and they buy whatever motor meets the design requirements at the time and is cheapest. Sometimes its a Johnson electric, sometimes its a Mubashi, sometimes it's who knows who else. I can tell you that it has always been a 550 size can with a power output of around 100 watts at peak power. All have been 12 volts, with one notable exception (what a fun surprise a 400 watt 550 motor was while it lasted!). In anycase, expect any motor you buy now to be the wrong one come January. If you want to use them for some other project, check ebay. Bane bots also has a good selection of 550 size motors and gearboxes, although none are an exact match for the FP. It's a great motor. By far the highest power to weight ratio of any kit motor so far. If you can keep them running fast they'll last all season too. -Andy A. |

Re: Fisher-Price Motors
Here is a link to Fisher price service center locater, just enter your zip and follow. http://www.service.mattel.com/us/powerwheels_info.asp
I used it a few years ago and found that a hardware store down the road carried the parts. Most of the time they had the parts there but you can also order them too. |
