Radio's

Does anyone have a layout of the serial pins on the radio modems such as what is power, ground, send, receive, channel? any of this info would be helpful.

Actually, it wouldn't be very helpful at all. You would also need to know the proper protocol for controlling the modem, which is considered secret information.

Re: Radio's

Brent,
There is a variety of info on the IFI website http://www.indianafirst.org. You sometime need to search for it as the site isn't designed for search. They also have a large forum where their ingineers have answered such questions over the years. It has a search function as well but it will take a little time. There is a huge repository of info here for the cost of a little time.

I think Al means http://www.ifirobotics.com (IFI) and http://www.ifirobotics.com/forum/ (IFI's forum).

Also note that it is not RS-232 serial data, instead RS-422 I believe.

Lightbulb Re: Radio's

well i guess the main reason im wondering if anyone has the layout is because the competition port has a radio receive and a radio send and we are trying to create a radio tree so we could just run the signal through competition and then provide the power to the entire tree and have just one plug in for it all. we already have created a 'arena control' that will allow the changing of channels and enable, disable, auton, and provides power through the port to up to 6 oi's. so if we could run the radios through it as well it would make it even better...

How did you manage that? The ability to command radio channels would be very useful on a non-FIRST field (for practice or informal off-season competition), but how to do it is proprietary information.

Re: Radio's

One of our mentors created one... he reverse engineered the entire thing. you would need to talk to him about the details if he is willing to discuss it.

Is he registered on CD? If not could you ask him if he could give us a way to contact him?
