I agree. Hence Salt Lake City, Knoxville, Albuquerque, and Boise are excellent candidates despite small numbers of existing FRC teams.

Dave is right in pointing out that density of team population is important; however, I think there is a little bit of chicken-or-egg logic there. As an example, the St. Louis regional was started in 2002 when there were no FRC teams in St. Louis (my team formed that same year) and the team density factor had to be stretched a little, relying on many teams to travel more than 200 miles to come here.

Anyway, it is important to dream about the possibilities.

I look forward to seeing maps like this on the FIRST web site, and to seeing a more compact and easy to navigate presentation of the associated info (more compact than what the FIRST web site uses now).

I also look forward to seeing FIRST FTC and FRC Regionals at the U. of Ky. in Lexington. I can make an introduction to the engineer/entrepreneur who is now the President of the Unversity and is aggressively promoting the growth of high tech in the region.

Lexington is very close to Cincinnati and Louisville, and is reasonably close to large and small swaths of West Va, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, and NC, and Virginia.

Regional competitions only took place for five weeks. "Week 6" was time off before the Championship.

It seems the Peachtree Regional is missing from the map. It is held in Duluth GA.

You're right. I never added Peachtree to the Blue Alliance system because FIRST doesn't have complete records of the matches played. It seems like their app cut out mid-upload:
