Re: External power for LED worklights?
I just had a thought. Perhaps instead of making repair/maintenance areas more easily visible, maybe focus on making the robot more reliable and less likely to need repair and maintenance.

Re: External power for LED worklights?
I like this a lot. As far as I am concerned, the quality of an electronic device is directly proportional to the number of blinky lights on it. Safety / Visibility is good too.

Put more LED's inside the robot.....Our 2008 robot is going to light up like a Xmas tree!

Re: External power for LED worklights?
It happens, man. I've only ridden in a robot's frame ONCE (and I was driving too), and that 2 minute ride has really helped me understand why random stuff seems to break.

Re: External power for LED worklights?
That's actually a really good idea (especially for those robots that have stacked electronics or small, closed spaces), and I'm sure teams could justify the cost and time to build such a thing.
Even if your team does build it though, don't forget to bring flashlghts anyways just in case the light system fails (but assuming the person knows how to solder and knows their positive leads from their negative leads, it shouldn't) or you need to look in a dark spot somewhere else (under something in the shop, for instance). I'm thinking I should talk to my team's electrical guy and see what we can come up with, though. I'ts a cool idea. |
