Re: SCRRF Fall Classic Official Thread
Since it's being held at an old Albertson's, how are the pits going to be?

Re: SCRRF Fall Classic Official Thread
It's been gutted completely. The field will be in the center, and the pits on the sides. There is more than enough room.

Re: SCRRF Fall Classic Official Thread
The pits will be where the cherries, peaches, and plums were sold.
![]() Well, only some of them. The official word is, all around the outside of the field. (Which includes the old produce section.) |

Re: SCRRF Fall Classic Official Thread
We have room for 31 10'x10' pits around three sides. The Beachbots can use their shop, which is in the old warehouse area, so they don't need one. That leaves the front clear for Registation, food sales, etc.
We still need to do some work to finish cleaning things up, but the demolition work is done. We will be working on Saturday 8/25 from 9am-5pm The big jobs that are left are: 1) Finishing cleaning up the floor. We need hoses and wet/dry vacums for that. Be sure the vacuums are set up for wet work. 2) There are a couple of areas we need to wall off. Power drills with screw bits are the tool of choice here. We need lots of screws so you probably want to bring a drill with a cord. The materials should be waiting for us by the time we get there. 3) To help smooth out the floor we need to lay a bunch of masonite sheets in the are the field will be. We just have to haul them out and lay them down. 4) There are a couple of places where electric wires that used to go into the shelf units are hanging down. Those need to be cut off near the ceiling and the ends secured. I think we have the tools for this, including a 15' ladder If we have a crew the size we had last week we should be done well before the official quiting time of 5pm. If we don't get it done we will continue on the 8th of September. |

Fall Classic Progress
Remember Registration is now open. Send your $200 entry fee to : LeRoy Nelson SCRRF Treasurer 1457 3rd Street Manhattan Beach, CA 90266-6335 (310) 937-7226 We need 12 teams to sign up before Sept 24 to make this a go. We made some major progress yesterday thanks to the guys from Teams 980 and 597. The faux walls are framed and ready for covering. That should only take a couple of hours now that the framing is up. The electrical stuff has all been secured. Many manhours were spent on cleaning the floor. While it is better we still have a long way to go. Professional expertise may be needed. If you know somebody who can help pleaase refer them to me. We are also looking for someone to fly up to San Jose and help drive the field down. If you are interested, at least 18 years old, and male, let me know. Sorry ladies, the other driver is a guy. The possibilites for trouble are too great with a mixed crew. Our next work day is Sept 8th from 9-5pm. All are welcome. Chris |

Re: SCRRF Fall Classic Official Thread
Chris, we plan on going. Just sent an email to the team. We would come and help just the distance makes it hard, and school just started 2 weeks ago for us, so we are scrambling to get the team organized where the whole team is on the same page. We are planning on going, so, check should be in soon.

We understand the distance issue. In some parts of New England the distance you need to travel would take you out of state. Your team also hosted last year and will be doing an FTC event later in the year. Nobody can claim 599 doesn't have community spirit. I will be looking for help the day of the event. If you can spare a few bodies for reset, cueing, or cleanup that will be enough. I should mention that this has been a great opportunity for the South Bay teams and some others that don't have a traditional school facility to demonstrate their community spirit. Thanks again to 330, 294, 597, Chadwick, El Segundo and 980, for your continuing help in getting ready. |

Re: SCRRF Fall Classic Official Thread
Thanks for the kind words. Anyways, if I am not driving, I definitely want to volunteer. Ill bring up volunteering to the team to see if anyone will do it. No promises, but I hope I can get a good amount of people. Should be exciting.
