Angry Goosebumps on Cartoon Network

Ok,

So cartoon network is playing 20 episodes of goosebumps on cartoon network this october?

Personally i don't think they should do it. Here's my reason:

-Goosebumps is always very morbid and the good guys NEVER win. They always end up either dying or in some irreversable transfiguration.

I think this could end up mentally scaring some kids who don't take well to being scared.

Any thoughts.

Re: Goosebumps on Cartoon Network

I watched and read Goosebumps when I was a child... I have no problems. (I suffer from severely depressive episodes, but not because of a TV show or books). And there are usually moral stories to them...

Re: Goosebumps on Cartoon Network

Goosebumps was to the late 90's early 2000's what Are You Afraid Of The Dark? was to the early 90's on Nickelodeon (Arguably the best show on Nick at the time).

I see no problem here in showing some good tv with some (albeit) sometimes scary plots. But then again, Goosebumps is self rated by R.L. Stein himself a GB-7 (for children over the age of 7).

I expect this to be shown later at night in the regular programming because of this if it were to make it's way onto CN.

Isn't Adult Swim on Cartoon Network? I think Goosebumps is just fine for children's television in that case....

Re: Goosebumps on Cartoon Network

I would assume that its gonna be like right before Adult Swim. Also, I'm pretty sure the executives of the network aren't idiots who don't take these things into account when they make business decisions....I personally loved GB growing up and am happy to see that Cartoon Network is getting some good shows. Everything good is gone after DBZ and stuff like Dexter's Laboratory. They only show that stuff like once in a while and everything has been replaced by "modern entertainment." Which is total BS to watch btw. lol

Re: Goosebumps on Cartoon Network

Goosebumps was on television right after the 10th book came out anyway. So kids, mostly the 9 year olds that were reading them, all watched the episodes then. What's the difference now?

Re: Goosebumps on Cartoon Network

Just like showing anything on TV, adults can choose to switch channels. Kids may need some guidance here, but nothing worse than the old bugs bunny cartoons is in there. Even the youngest childred can understand the difference between cartoons and reality.

Perhaps they are a bit scary for some, perhaps they are just not good cartoons (are they still being made? No? There's your answer), and perhaps there's no socially redeeming benefit - just like rock & roll - but so what? Not everything we encounter has to be a positive experience.

Note, however, that I have no interest in watching them. This, from an old man who considers Futurama and The Simpsons religions...

Re: Goosebumps on Cartoon Network

Anything Cartoon Network shows on Adult Swim is far far worse than they show on Goosebumps shows.

Re: Goosebumps on Cartoon Network

I loved the Goosebumps books when I was in elementary school, I have literally an entire section of my bookshelf taken up by them. I never watched the show (no cable, deprived child), but the boks were usually taken by me just as fun. It was more exciting or suspenseful than terrifying or depressing.

Plus, I'd like to see some examples of the good guys "never" winning. Two of my favorites (thus, the only ones I remember from then, I might check out more later) were "Welcome to Dead House" and "Night of the Living Dummy." In the first, they leave the house and go live somewhere else, and in the second they destroyed the dummy somehow (granted it came back later in different books, but for all purposes of that book it was destroyed).

Re: Goosebumps on Cartoon Network

Goosebumps was "The Thing" when I was in 3rd and 4th grade. I've got my stack of the series tucked away.

I remember that Night in Terror Tower episode. That one freaked me out, much more than the book did.

my only objection would be that Goosebumps is not a cartoon (right?). Does the cartoon network have any other non-cartoon shows?

Ahahahahaha!!! Wow. I feel dumb. I missed that little detail.
Nope, no cartoon, Goosebumps is a live action television show (unless they redo it as a cartoon which would be interesting).
Good point Courtney!

On the other hand, MTV (Music Television) rarely shows music anymore. lol

Is this the beginning of the end of The Cartoon Network as we know it as well? Will it just be called "The CN" from now on to seperate itself from showing only Cartoons??

Cartoon network is beginning to add live action shows to its schedule

The first one "out of jimmy's head" premiered last friday.

"Goosebumps" would be the second

(my brother watches CN if your wondering how I know this)

Re: Goosebumps on Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network shows things like the Scooby Doo movies, the animated and the newer ones too. I don't know, I think they'll pretty much show anything people will watch. And a lot of things people won't. XD

Re: Goosebumps on Cartoon Network

Uh, what's the point of showing a non-animated show on CN? Sure, Scooby-Doo was animated, has animation in it, etc.

Personally, I don't care I just watch AS time to time. When's Venture Bros and Shin Chan back on again?
