In this case I doubt it would be cheaper than the Victors we are using now. You need a microcontroller to be a man in the middle which means more code that needs to be created and maintained.

You all have ample time to get your sleep in from the final day of nationals to the friday before kickoff. There should be no reason why anyone will need sleep for the next 6 weeks and then some.
