Differences from the weekend

It seems to me that there was a large difference between the two regionals this weekend. The Nasa regional looked more organized in its matches, the teams went around and minded there own half the time, In Chicago it looked like there was a huge rumble in the corner a few times. Tons and tons of machines pilled up on and over the puck. Did anyone else make this or any other observations?

Andy,

I didn't see then Chicago regional _but_ I can tell you that there wer some
serious rumbles in several of the NASA matches. Especially the finals. I
can hardly remember a better finals since, when we took 2nd place in NE back
in '96. There was a tone of tiping, shoving, and puck pushing in the Ames
finals.

I wasn't able to see the NASA regional but i was at the Motorola regional and although there were a lot of times where all four robots were trying to shove their way up on to the puck and fighting back and fourth for control. I feel that if it had gone any other way it would have been much less exciting. When you are standing right there at the side (or behind the plexiglass like me) it is an amazing site to see those robots in there going straight at each other.

We were at the Midwest Regional and I didn't see th broadcast of the NASA Regional, so I can't compare the two; as a frequent cynic of this year's game on this forum, let me admit here and now that I was wrong: all of the nasty scenerios that I fretted over for 6 weeks never materialized; teams took the high road and played to win but didn't go crazy and try to destroy each other. The alliance concept proved to be a wonderful innovation. FIRST has done it again: I think that this may be their best game yet!
