Love it Andrew, keep up the good work!

Suggestion: For the gallery, is it possible to have both a flash AND a HTML gallery?

Re: Beta Lone Star Regional Site

Good work, Andrew!
This has been needed for a long time and you are stepping up to get it done.
Awesome!

You may be related to 1902, there are not enough hours in the day for you!

Again, thanks for stepping up,
Jane

Re: Beta Lone Star Regional Site

Thanks for the suggestions, I will look into an html gallery, the goal is to set a model for other regionals to quickly make a site. We did everything in Drupal Content Management System (and wordpress), so it is fairly easy to port to another system.

When I say "we", I want to point out that Christina Lam (also a former 2158 mentor) was a big part in making this site happen.

Keep up the great feedback,

Just a heads up about the flash media, it is possible to download pictures by right-clicking the main picture and selecting "Open in new window".

Talking Re: Beta Lone Star Regional Site

Thats great! I was thinking that someone should do that so great!

We have all been talking about how our little section of houston is going to get VERY busy next semester. We are all very excited to have all the teams coming to our ISD's largest stadium. I look forward to seeing everyone there. And don't worry, we have sent our money in (in case you were wondering why 624 has not shown up on the FIRST website yet).

Im so excited this year is going to be great. A great way to spend my senior year in FIRST Robotics.

I didn't get a chance to look, Will there be a link to live video? If so I will be linking to it for a newsletter I run for our teams family and friends that are not involved. Again, Great Job!

Re: Beta Lone Star Regional Site

Your main categories or what have you at the top are somewhat confusing. "About" is exactly what it says it is. "Participants" and "Volunteers" seem to be aimed at the audiences stated as opposed to being about participants and volunteers. But "Sponsors" is back to being about sponsors, not aimed at them. And media is neither about the media nor aimed at the media, as the surrounding headings would have you believe, but is simply a picture gallery.

I know I sound picky, but I'm a bit of a technical writer at heart. Things grouped near each other and all sounding the same should be about similar things.... An easy fix would probably be "Participation" and "Volunteering" instead.

Also, for the record, I detest flash used for interfaces, splash pages, and generally anything that isn't some game, video, or other web application that I'm specifically looking for. So obviously, I don't care for flash picture galleries that waste my time and bandwidth downloading full versions of images with everything glommed together and not in useful categories. So if I had a choice, I'd skip the whiz-bang flash gallery and stick with a good PHP gallery.

Re: Beta Lone Star Regional Site

With the lone star Regional approaching and lots of people using the http://Txfirst.org website. I'm curious to know what are people's thoughts on the site so far. Christina Lam , the DiscoBots and I have been working steadily to keep the website updated and running.

Any feedback or suggestions (how fast/slow , more/less pictures , more/less resources)?

http://txfirst.org

FYI, we have updated the gallery to be non-flash, added drop-down tabs instead of side tabs, optimized the pictures to load faster and updated many different resources for teams.
