Didn't he say there would be 16?

Maybe I just imagined it, or maybe I heard wrong but didn't Dean, before telling us of the new rule, say that there would be a top 16 at nationals instead of a top 8? Hence making there be 48 teams in the tournament (with the new rule). I could have sworn he said that, as if it wasn't anything new. I havn't heard anyone here talking about it so maybe I did imagine it. I've thought for a long time there should be more teams in the tourny, and I hope It wasn't just my ears playing tricks on me.

How could having a top 16 instead of a top 8 screw your team? I don't
see any scenario where this would be possible unless you were guaranteed
a top 8 position and are worrying about having to get through more
rounds.

Yes. Thats what he said. Does anyone have anything official from FIRST about it though? Can we count on this new idea, or was it a musing that may or may not fly?
