Last Year's Gear Ratio

Ok, so on your drive, what was your final gear ratio after gearbox and sprocket reduction. Keep in mind that the KOP transmissions are about 12:1. (Assuming a 6" wheel size with four CIMs. If anything else, please specify)

<10:1
>10:1 and <12:1
12:1
>12:1 and <15:1
>15:1

If you used multispeed gearboxes, post your ratios.

269 used a 15:1 ratio using worm gears.

Re: Last Year's Gear Ratio

For this to be meaningful, you also need to describe wheel size....

Re: Last Year's Gear Ratio

Also for this to be meaningful, you may want to consider which motors are being used for driving. While many use CIM's, some also use FP's and/or the mini-bike CIM (fat chip). Therefore the gear ratios used for those motors should not be compared with other motors.

We used 12:1 Banebots with the DUAL CIM configuration and additional 1.3:1 geardown to the 6" wheels for a total of about 16:1. The results end up with 6.25 ft/s at 40 Amp draw and 9 ft/s at free speed. No shifters last year.

Re: Last Year's Gear Ratio

We had a Small CIM, big CIM and FP w/ AM planetary on each side. The ratio of the Small CIM (which the other motors were matched to) was about 12:1.

This was driving 6 inch wheels.
