VEX Challenge Scorekeeper
I am trying to get this program running, I have the scoring server up, also I have the Audience Display Running on my extended monitor. The Challenge Scorekeeper is work as far as uploading the teams and creating the matches. But when I start the Match, the automations 20 seconds run then when it turn 2:00 a windows ask me to contine out of the automations part. I click ok then the robots don't move. No matter the port I plug into it does not move. Have anyone had this problem. The bot is on and so is the Controller, can anyone help me out?

Re: VEX Challenge Scorekeeper
1st question, are you using EasyC or MPLab to program the robots?
2nd question, are you using the 2007 Competition template? 3rd question, have you updated the master code on the controllers to version 7? If it's EasyC make sure that you have no jumpers in interrrupt 5 and 6 on the controller. Hook the robot up to the computer and start the terminal in Easy C. You should see 3 things: 1) The Master code version. Make sure it is v7 2) Then something like "Autonomous (20)" 3) after 20 seconds, you'll see something like "Operator Control (254)" If you see all those, then the robots have the correct pieces they need to operate with the field controls. The controllers are very simple and only enable/inhibit radio transmissions. In practice I have yet to see them behave incorrectly by not enabling robots when the scoring system tells them to. We ran a number of matches at the FTC scrimmage at Ramp Riot without any issues. Also, try unplugging the transmitters from the field controls and see if the robot really is operating correctly. Hope this helps. |

Re: VEX Challenge Scorekeeper
It's still worth checking if the robots you are testing with are programmed correctly. The correct master code and template are required for the robots to work correctly with the field controls.
When the scoring software goes to the operator controlled portion of the match, try unplugging the controllers from the filed control. If the robots begin to work you may have a flaky field control and may need to contact IFI. You may also want to switch out the cables that tether the transmitter to the field controls. We've seen the cables cause issues occasionally. I've run the field at 2 scrimmages with no problems, so I know the scoring system software works correctly with the field controls. |

On a side note, why is there a "VEX Arena Controller"? and the Scorekeeper? Which do I use? Last edited by kE7JLM : 15-11-2007 at 19:47. |

I know I may sound like a broken record, but it sounds like the programs were started using the 2007 FTC Competition template. The template and the master code are what determine if the robot is in autonomous mode or operator controlled mode. The field controls only enable or disable the transmitter. Also make sure the start up sequence is correct. Make sure both the robot and transmitter are OFF. Put the robot on the field. Plug the transmitter into the field controller. Turn on the robot. Then Turn on the transmitter. Quote:
The scorekeeper software is an integrated solution developed for FIRST that handles all aspects of scoring (match generation, displays, rankings, alliance selection, individual match scoring, and robot control). That is the one you should be using. |
