Great Lakes Site for 2000

After the Great Lakes competition, my kids were talking about needing a larger space than the Convocation Center at Eastern Michigan U. Nice place, but inadequate. Mike Martus and I also discussed this, and just as my kids suggested, he proposed using the Silverdome in Pontiac. Big enough, probably available, and still well located. Our concern was more than a convenience issue...there is also a safety issue. I think the fire marshal would not approve the space allocated. Tempers were a little short, I believe partly due to the cramped conditions. Within the first half hour after we arrrived, a couple engineers from the team next to us yelled at my kids for being in their way. Any chance we can compete next year at the Silverdome?

Examination of the possibility of a Silverdome venue is already in the works; we'll keep you posted.
