I have some suggestions of folks at Purdue to help you get started:
Dean Stevenson (judge at Midwest Regional)
Mike Ciavaglia (grad student at Purdue, member of our team on leave to get an MSME0
Ann McCarthy (intern at Delphi, never been on a FIRST team, but a very well connected ME undergrad)
I think with a little more pressure we can push Purdue over the edge. We (me and several others) have been working on them for a number of years now --- I think they are about to crack ;-)
