The totes themselves are part of the KOP. This means that they could definitely be used on the robot. The trackball doesn't fit inside, though...

Re: Tote

We are thinking about using them as part of our robot. Might make a nice easy housing.

Just a quick heads up. In the past use of any boxes, or say... plastic totes that parts came in from the KoP have been generally disallowed as far as being part of the robot.

A question may need to be posed to FIRST just to be sure of the rules for this year though.

The totes are explicitly listed on the 2008 KoP Checklist. (DC2717-12, black on page 5 and grey on page 17). Has that been the case in previous years?

I believe in intuition and inspiration. Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. It is, strictly speaking, a real factor in scientific research.

Page 4 lists the Red Tote from 2007's manual.
That is a good point.

I think the question definitely needs to be asked now as I am only going from memory on this one.

Yes.

In Section 10 of the manual I see this section:
Quote:
The FIRST 2008 KoP is provided in multiple containers. They consist of the following packages:
1 – FIRST large black plastic tote for pickup at Kickoff
1 – FIRST large grey plastic tote for pickup at Kickoff
1 – Innovation First, Inc. KitBot box for pickup at Kickoff
1 – Innovation First, Inc. Electronics Kit for pickup at Kickoff
2 – BaneBots motors for pickup at Kickoff (RS540 & RS550)
1 – FedEx envelope for pickup at Kickoff
Since the electronics kit and BaneBots motors are also listed here, I assume that all containers are also parts of the KOP.

The totes are COTS anyway, right? This means that they should not be disallowed.

That's a rule in FTC (and several of its predecessors), but has not been a rule in FRC within recent memory.

The boxes do meet all the requirements for kit parts, and COTS parts, so they're allowed either way.

Re: Tote

Tote can be use. This is for the 06 season. They have been a KOP as long as we have been involved.

Re: Tote

I guess I stand corrected on this issue.

Darn memory isn't what it used to be.
