Skid Steer system

Does anyone know how to build a Skid Steer (SS) system? And if so could you explain it to me? Thanks

Re: Skid Steer system

Correct me if I'm wrong, but "swerve" aka crab steering is very differant than skid steering.

Skid steering is when you have, for example a simple four wheel set up. The left side of your drive train is isolated from the right side, and both can be controlled independantly. The term "skid steer" derives from the fact that when you turn with this type of configurartion, your tires "skid" along the ground. Depending on ths surface, and wheels you choose, this type of drivetrain can put a lot of load on your motors, and stress on your overall drivetrain. A few years ago, we had a problem with too much traction using a simple skid steer setup, and had to put zip-ties on the tires to reduce the ammount of traction we had.

Re: Skid Steer system

Hmm, poster number 2 deleted his post, making my post a little awkward. Any more questions, feel free to ask.

Re: Skid Steer system

fine
I won't use this topic then.
Can anyone tell me how to use the MPLAB simulator? I have the PDF but it's not really helpful, especially since I keep getting the "check build tool options" message.

Re: Skid Steer system

what you need to do is go under the toolsuite locations in the project pull down thing. Then go into the c18 compiler tab and make sure all the .exe files are correct. For a more complete description of how they are supposed to look, look at our teams' forums I posted something just like this here http://www.team340.org/smf/index.php?topic=241.0
