Toughbox Assembly Video on YouTube

An assembly video for putting together an AndyMark Toughbox is now available for viewing. This is a 10 minute video, and provides step by step instructions in putting one of these simple gearboxes together. It is a long video, but you may have a chuckle or two when you watch it.

I was wondering why the gearbox was closed without the motors--then I saw Kyle and Nick putting the motor in and was like, wow! improvements again!

Yes... On the "Toughbox User Guide" we show how to assemble it with the motor mounted to the polycarbonate plate first.

When we took 24 of these to FIRST this summer, Kate Pilotte mounted the motor when it was still assembled and she preferred that way also. So... yes, there are assembly options.

Congrats on the video as well as the use of your children.

My personal belief is that any time we can show 1) how simple things can be done, 2) that females can do it, and 3) that younger age groups can be involved are all furthering the goals of FIRST.

Great video! Putting together a Toughbox looks really simple to do, but this video makes some of the trickier parts very clear.

I see you've posted the link to the video on the Toughbox page on Andymark.biz too.

Between this and the IR Board video shown at the Kickoff, I'm excited to see these explanatory videos that show how otherwise intimidating parts are really quite simple!

So simple, a child can do it!!! (Well, OK, maybe with a little help).


One question, is there a provision for attaching the Gear Tooth Sensor to this already? Or, is that up to us to figure out?

I'm not sure if our plans include the AM Toughbox on drive, but I'm glad to see a design with a solid pedigree in the kit this year. Keep 'em coming!

The kit frame contains transmission mounting plates.
