You also cannot use any parts from previous years that are no longer commercially avaliable.

You can use pretty much whatever you want (as long as it meets the cost and parts utilization requirements), but why don't you want to use the AM Toughboxes? You are going to have an extremely tough time making a better single-speed gearbox than the Toughboxes. If you want a two-speed then AndyMark sells very nice two speeds as well.

We're using the new BaneBots gearboxes, similar to the ones in the kit last year. They hardened the carrier plates and now use steel gears.

The toughboxes are too tall to meet our demands for our chassis. It's low to the ground and low profile, these will wind up sticking out too much, so we canned them. Besides I was impressed with the performance of the BaneBots ones last year.
