8020 is da bomb!

But 4" of ground clearance!!!??? At least mount your pillow blocks on the upper side! There aren't any obstacles to climb this year!

Less 80/20 to be used for the upper part with clearance...and no obstacles = does it really matter? (and don't you lower CG me....lol)

Trust me, we have our reasons for the 3.75" clearance

Why wouldn't you like the kit gearbox?!?

We beat the snot out of our AM single speeds last year, and this years Toughbox is an IMPROVED version of the AM Single. From experiences we have had with AM products, the quality is ALWAYS top notch and can take just about ANYTHING you throw it's way.

Re: pic: Dawgma 1712 as of January 8th at 5:10pm

I remember at Atlanta someone looking at our bot and saying "Hmm... you used chassis metal for the manipulator and 80-20 for the chassis. I would have gone the other way."

80-20 is our favorite base material.

We drilled right through the bottom of the housing and bolted it to the frame. One of our seniors last year used this method in the spring with the AM single speed and even with the shaft unsupported on the outside it ran fine without loosening. Our latest iteration is now lower to the ground with the drive bearings flipped over, which you can see here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/img...a3f60049_l.jpg. There are two bolts through the bottom of the housing and we are also supporting the drive shaft on the outside with a bearing. We gave the drivebase a good workout on carpet on Sat 1/12 and even fully loaded to 145 lbs (simulating final weight with battery and bumpers) everything stayed tight and aligned.
