Hey FIRSTers,

This note has been forwarded to me. Perhaps you have already seen it, but here it is.

Andy B.

---------------------------------

Hello Friends,

My name is Traci & I am one of the engineers on the ETHICON/Bound Brook High
School Robotics team. Perhaps you know us better as ROBBE XTREME or Team
#56.

I'm writing to share some sad news and to ask for your support. You've
probably heard the nationwide news reports about the devastation that
Hurricane Floyd caused to our small town of Bound Brook, New Jersey. The
news has hit too close to home. Three of our team's students and their
families homes and lives have been devastated by the flood waters that rose
to their highest level in recorded history. They are currently living with
family & friends as they await the news of whether their homes are
condemned. You know some of these students: Katie Hicks our 1999 Driver,
Brandon Slanker our 1999 Human Player and Jimmy Holmes our 1997/98 Human
Player. A few other students families have been temporarily displaced and
have suffered as well.

I'm sure that you can understand how special these kids are to us! They've
been on our team for a number of years and have become 'extended family'.
We are so proud of them. Despite their personal tragedies, our kids were
involved in the rescue and recovery efforts -- wading through chest deep
water to aid their neighbors and volunteering at the make-shift emergency
shelters. Their parents have been involved and have always supported the
spirit and dream that epitomizes FIRST. Our team is rallying behind these
families in their time of need. We'd like your help!

Our target is to raise $20,000 to help them make a new start. While this
may seem like a huge undertaking, we are confident that we can accomplish
this WITH YOUR HELP. After all, if each robotics team nationwide would just
pledge to raise $100, we would reach this goal in no time! Can your help us
help OUR KIDS?

We have set up a RELIEF FUND. Please send your donations to:

BBHS ROBOTICS TEAM - FLOOD RELIEF
