Questions on Mecanum Drive Train

Our Team Is Looking At Mecanum Wheels Any Comments comparing turning (not strafing) Compard to 4 wheel drive tank steering turning. Is it just as fast? Also, how about straight forward/reverse speed. Can Mecanum achieve 10-12 feet/ sec? I realizethat Mecanum are not as efficient.
