No Serial Port

Short Story: Any USB to High Speed Serial Converters that anyone can recomend? Brand? Where I can find one?

Long Story:
With some help from some teachers and team funding, we got a new lab top to help with programming and other things. We just didn't check to see if it had a serial port so now we are stuck with a lab top for program, that we cant download programs with. I know that there are USB to high speed converters or something like that that I can use to down load but I've heard previouse stories of them being really slow. I'm just wondering if any one uses or has used one that works efficently that they can recomend.

Thanks
