Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

our team is extremely far behind schedule at the moment due to the fact that most of our tools are under lock and key elsewhere where we cannot get them. we are trying to make due with tools brought from home but we are still searching for that mystical dremel cutting bit that no stores nearby seem to carry.
however frame is finger tightened at least and the electronics board has... well a bunch of marker marks on it for where things go.
tommorow we are moving shop to another team to share a shop with so hopefully there we will have more luck.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

Well we finally cut all the extruded aluminum, and tapped some of our wheels. Hopefully by Tuesday will have a chassis frame accomplished and the electrical team can get to work at it.

The TechnoKats are right on schedule. We had our design selection meeting this afternoon, and now we know what we want to build.

And we know we want to build two of it.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

I can't believe how far 1089 is so far this build.

We've got media packets almost done, judges packets halfway done, all our photos and media from previous years categorized, programming seminars done, field elements built, media contacts gathered, manual workshops done, and a manual test administered, among other things.

Oh, you mean the ROBOT? Oh, yeah, that's coming along too

(Well, we have some manipulator prototypes built, a prototype chassis and drive done, parts ordered for actual system, and strategy decided).

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

Well, we have part of the kitbot built.... We're having trouble with the toughboxes from AndyMark, so that kind of halted things there. Our team still can't agree on game strategy and we have several ideas on a hurdling mechanism conceptualized, and a few are pretty fleshed out, but there are a few design flaws in each of them so far. Though for a 12 person team, we're not doing so bad, especially compared to last year.

Everyone who saw us at the Milwaukee regional last year thought it was pretty impressive that we were able to build half our robot on practice day of the regional. Needless to say we placed 48 out of 52. Two 5 hour fix-it windows later, we place 8 out of 39 at Chicago. I think we work well under stress, but I'd like to not have to do that again.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

Yeah we are having all kinds of issues with the AndyMark gearboxes, the tolerances on that thing is horrendous. I think both of ours are sitting in the scrap box right now . As for time line I would say for a rookie team we are not doing too bad, the base should be moving tomorrow. Our electronics test panel was built the day of the kick off, so software has been under test for a while. One of the appendages has been fully modeled and is being CNCd over the next few days so it should be together by the end of next week. People on fund raising are continuing to bring in money and discounts.
With 15 people working for 3-4 hours each day, I would say we are not doing to bad at all.
...Now to write those essays that are due in the morning for English

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

I have had bad experiences with being behind schedule so this year I decided to step up and fill out one of those large "At-A-Glance" calendars with all of the deadlines that we gave ourselves. I would say we are not behind schedule because so far, we've been doing everything on the calendar by all the deadlines i wrote down.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedule?

We're know what we want to do. The problem is the ball. It's turning out to be a hard object to deal with. On Sat we intend to spend all day proto typing and working on ways to manipulate and throw the ball. Every thing else is on schedule, but if we can't find methods to manipulate the ball we're in trouble. Last night we went over the math. Now it's time to see if it is valid in the real world.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

We haven't purple powder coated anything yet this year. Translation: we're way behind schedule.

But it looks so good in CAD!

Cool Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

We are on schedule....maybe even a little ahead

We have both our chasis and our electrical done, and our drive system is about an hour away from being completed. We will probably be driving later today. Our prototypes are done and we've all agreed on the design. All we really need to do is finish the "game-helper" (dont wanna give any of you guys clues for your robot ) and then practice with it. Although we only need to finish the "game-helper", it will take a while. We predict we will be practicing in about 1/2 weeks.

Our team got our designs yesterday and ordered the parts. We started to make mock ups...so we arent really behind we are actually ahead of last year.

Cool Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

we've had our tanktred cage milled with high pressure water guns, but i'm the programmer, so here's my Schedual strategy:

i'm ganna program it all before our mentor programmer even sees the design! i've already got hybrid done

peace of cake
