Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

Our team has the design decided and are prototyping the gripper. We have the majority of the chasis built and are deisigning parts in Inventor. This season is looking great relative to the last 3 years. I'm siked.

Right on Schedule!

We had our very first unanimous design vote! It's official: Elevator this year instead of arm. We finished our design process yesterday and began our Solidworks design. The fast decisions were helped along by our mentor's declaration of "No one eats lunch until our robot is designed!" The entire robot has been mapped out and electronics should be designed by next week. I volunteered to be the person responsible for the electronics and raised my hand before realizing that I have had almost no electronics experience. I hope our robot turns out alright...

Thank you.

We did not get the course building done, but we got our chassis done with driving capabilities on Saturday afternoon. We also prototyped our steering mechanism with VEX kit. The programming team worked on the steering code.

It was great to see it drive. We are waiting on wheels we have ordered so we can move forward with the design.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

We have finished our electrical board, placed it on chasis, chasis is done. Drive system is done. We started to prototype our lifting system, and it is almost done.

Now we need to make our real lifting and program our robot and start testing

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

we JUST decided on our robot design at the end of the most recent meeting. We now have 5 weeks to design and build our first ever 2 speed transmission, our first ever forklift type lift/elevator, and a unique belt sinch grabbing mechanism. Too much to chew? maybe. lets find out!

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

I wouldn't mind having a couple of things assembled at the moment, but I can live with where we are.

Parts have been identified for drive, and will be ordered when one of our sponsorship checks clear. We've figured out a general design direction for our manipulator, and now have to get folks on CAD to determine exactly how much of what we need.

Basically, we know what we're doing--we just have to mash that "export to reality" button.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

Our team has a complete conceptual design. Got a VEX prototype working and ordered the parts for the chassis yesterday. Got the pipe cut for the field.

We figure we're about 3 days behind where we wanted to be, but then, we don't stock a lot of stuff and have to order it as we go.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

All parts were ordered Monday and Tuesday of last week and everything should be in Monday... We expect to be done by the end of three week... but you never know with this competition, there's always room for something to go wrong. Good thing is frame and drive is almost done, programming is done, and everything is in CAD.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

Our schedule is to have a working bot in the crate by ship date, and after three unanimous votes about what kind of bot it'll be I think we're doing pretty well. We have a working prototype and are ready to start on the final chassis tomorrow, just as planned.
It'll be interesting to see how other teams face the challenge of getting a giant excercise ball up six and a half feet in the air, and how well their ideas work on the field.

Although we had a working chassis this time last year and were working on the manipulator, I think our Overdrive bot will be better because we took the time to make sure we had a driveable prototype. We learned a lot from Rack 'n Roll, including how hard a rectangular bot with tank drive and a wheel at each corner can be to steer.

We're having fun with a slightly different drivetrain, and electronics is going to have an interesting time fitting all the components onto an atypically shaped board, but... I suppose that I'm probably not authorized to give away all of our secrets yet.

As of today 973 is a good place. Chips have been flying for a week, our Frame is welded and our design is only a few steps from complete.

Re: How far are teams right now? Behind Schedual?

This is our Rookie Year. And I think we are behind schedule. Because the first week has ended and we still don't have a final design. I am pretty much worried.

Ok, NOW we are behind schedule. It took us 3 hours to get keys into our gearboxes. We kept bending them.

Well it is not the begining of week two!! so we meet together again in a couple of hours. The one thing that our team is really far behind on is money.

Just because you havnt started the chassis doesnt mean ur behind. Sometimes people dont start that until week 3. As long as you are able to get it all together in time for ship your never behind.
