3ds Max problems

i have made a geosphere and a tube and want to add an omni light and modify it. i have added the omni light and modified the basic parameters, but i need to add the "Atmosphere and Effects" one, specifically the lens effect. whenever i try and "Add," a window pops up and says an error occured, then the program closes. any help you could offer wood b helpful. thanks!!!
