Wiring the IR sensor board

I am a rookie programmer on Team 540 and I was just wondering how to wire the IR board. I know that Pins 1-4 are used for either positive or negative power supply voltage inputs. Pins 5-8 are used for the output signals associated with the motorcoach remote buttons. 9 and 10 aren't used.

With the IR board there are the rainbow colored wire. How does each wire correspond to each pin? I see that there are 10 wires, but which wire matches with which pin?

Also, what do I connect the wires to? Do they connect directly on the Digital Controller?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Wiring the IR sensor board

Look at the connector mounted on the IR board and you'll see the numbers "1" and "2" printed on the board close to the edge. Those are pins 1 & 2.

Re: Wiring the IR sensor board

use either 1 or 2 and 3 or 4 for power supply. the other ones (look at the documentation because i don't have it with me right now) are the outputs. the outputs can get hooked up to the digital in side of the rc, each of them a signal wire. You need to ground all of them though. out setup is in an L shape, with the base of the L the ground and one signal and the upright part 3 more signal wires. we just just pwm cables for this. it works well enough for testing purposes

Can someone show me a pic of how we connect the wires?

Re: Wiring the IR sensor board

would it be possible to get a picture of the IR sensor wired to the onboard Computer?

Those cut-up pwm cables just plug into the digital inputs. I used inputs 7-10 to save 1-6 for interrupts. It's also possible to use fewer cables to do it, and plug the pwm cable in along the signal line of the inputs you want to use, but I did it using 4 separate cables.

If that doesn't make sense, email me so I see it when I get into the lab tomorrow and I'll put up a pic of that too.

Wait, so you have to ground all the black wires on the PWMs to the battery you are using?
