Go to Post Mentors need to be sure that the team is on track to have a working robot ready. Students can do almost everything, but they need help watching the calender. Even if your ideas turn out bad, if your robot is inspectable and running when you arrive at your first event, anything can happen. - AcesPease [more]

We got one that didn't have holes either. The one that did come with holes has the extrusion that interferes with the bolt path, so you can't assemble it without filing both holes in the lexan and outer plate.

I never had any problem whatsoever with the BaneBots transmissions last year. Assembly, testing, and competition. We never had to touch them after they were mounted. I've had to drill, sand, scrape, and file the crap out of these gearboxes just to get them to go together. One of them even came with tons of burred edges, metal filings, and cutting oil on various parts, including the gears. I'm not sure how they're producing these things but maybe they should find a better source. They are a very robust design, but seem to be lower quality than what I would expect from AM. The 05 and 06 gearboxes were huge and heavier than these, but at least they went together without any problems. Hopefully these hold up to the competition season.

It looks like once per revolution of one of the big gears, it is very hard to turn by hand, and if run under motor power, makes a hideous noise.

Hard to say for sure, but it looks like the gear might be eccentric.

Anyone else having problems like that?

FYI - we replaced the Large Output Gear, and it works great now.
