This is one of my HOT BUTTONS....
Being invited to sing the national anthem is a real honor. GO for it! THAT being said... The Star Spangled Banner belongs to All of us so any "solos" should be done, allowing enough structure for everyone to join in. ...Not sure a Jimi Hendrix version qualifies but that's not my call. I had the unique situation of having an international team of American and British students. I was a bit taken aback when we attended our first regional and the UK kids didn't know the words to their national anthem. Last Year, I printed it out and we ALL sang it when it was played. Anyway... if I'm there... there will NOT be a soloist... I'll always be (perhaps embarrassing everyone but) ...accompanying. Steve
