I really wouldn't worry about having the compete bottom of it weighing 85 lbs, as long as I knew I could make the rest of the robot weigh less than 35 pounds.
Weight down low is better than weight up high....think about what it takes to make the robot fall over. What is the plan for the "stuff" that will handle the ball (if any)? |

yea were going to cut some peices off, maybe drill some holes in the pnumatic cylinders.. LOLs. na were barly going to be the weight we want. were going for speed.

This post of mine may help a few of you out with early weight estimates. It is a spreadsheet I made to calculate the weight of motors, transmissions, and electronics. We actually found that our robot will weigh significantly less than expected, probably under 100 pounds. That is far better than last year when we weighed in at 110.0!

we would like our robot to weigh about 60 lbs, but with some early calculations, we could end up weighing 65 lbs. Its all about speed for us so that weight should give us our max acceleration and speed.

Is that 85 lbs. with or without the battery?
Seems a little high however you do have pneumatics installed, which takes up quite a bit of weight. |

These are generous with roughly 10% overestimation each:
Drive Train - 40 (precise) Manipulator - 35 Pneumatics - 23 Electronics - 7 Powder Coating - 5 We're looking at just over 110lbs. |

we weighed our base and we weigh 55 pounds as of right now. thats out frame, drivetrain, and electronics. we still need pneumatics and our manipulator.

I really don't know about our other parts, but our frame alone weighs 9 pounds, 1/8 aluminum (I think, possibly 1/16) Our claw is hopefully going to be composite, if we can get it to them within the week.
This is about all I can give for information as of now, I just transfered over to programming (of which I know none) Hopefully if I remember I will post some spy shots of our super light frame within the week....assuming I remember. |

Are teem's robot is some ware between 25 and 80 pounds ( chasy, electronics board, drive trane,…) We still have a bit to go but I think the heaviest part of are bot is finished.

Our CAD model tells us 115...
It still doesn't have electronics, pneumatic tubing, wire, or chain.... |
