Re: The Best Remote to Use?

Any remote will work the same as any other. You can add extra IR LED's to make it more powerful, but other than that, they are equal

Re: The Best Remote to Use?

I have to respectfully disagree with you on that, tanmaker.

Remotes do have different range capabilities, so picking the right remote could be important (although most remotes will handle this competition just fine).

Additionally, different remotes handle signals differently. Some send 1 pulse for each button press, while others will send a continuous stream of pulses as long as the button is held down. This aspect is perhaps more important than the strength of the remote (as i said, most will work fine for this competition), as it involves programming your robot differently based on the remote. If you know you'll only get 1 pulse per button press (regardless of how long you hold it down), then you can treat each pulse as a separate press. If you have that same code but a remote that sends a continuous signal of pulses as long as the button is held down, odds are you'll get multiple signals to the robot for each button press and possible unintended results.

Can anyone recommend a certain brand or model that has had exceptional results?
