In the 80 inch rule, does the ball have to be included in that 80 inches as well, or not since it is the game piece?
\Thanks |

Re: 80 inches
The ball does not count towards the 80" limit.

so then, if our robot itself can go past 80 inches, but we don't, are we disqualified?
Thanks ![]() |

Re: 80 inches
The 80" rule is enforced on the field in the "Playing Configuration". This means that as long as your robot does not exceed a maximum 80" horizontal measurement while playing the game you will not receive a penalty. Also, unless you frequently violate this rule you wouldn't be disqualified you would only receive a 10 pt. penalty.

Re: 80 inches
Why would they "e.g." instead of "i.e."?
"e.g." means "For example…"; "i.e." means "meaning…". Am I missing something here? |

Re: 80 inches
Because it is an example, not the literal meaning of the rule. This was explained in one of the updates - #3? Someone in one of the other threads regarding <R16> noted that an equalterial triangle with 80" sides would not fit in an 80" circle.

Re: 80 inches
Everyone should read this regarding the 80" rule:
http://forums.usfirst.org/showthread.php?t=8159 This was definitely different than my initial interpretation when I read the rule. |
