Go to Post I'd say it is somewhat addicting. But I think that is a good thing. It proves that knowledge can be addicting. How cool is that? Now, if we could just get everyone addicted to knowledge, just think of what we can accomplish.:D - Molten [more]

Short Animation Theater

Hello!
Our team, while very happy with the way everything went last year, would like to see an improvement in the way animations are shown at competitions. Anyone here who has been to a Siggraph show probably knows about the short animation theater. It's just a room with chairs and a screen showing all the animations on a constant loop. We think that having something like this would definitely bring a lot more attention to those students who have devoted many hours to creating an animation for the competition.
Last year, the animations were shown on the screens in the pits, but they were constantly interrupted by games, scores, or other things. Plus, the pits (god bless them) were far too crowded and hectic to really be able to stop and pay attention without being run over by teams taking their robots to the fields or otherwise interrupted by the main events. A small tent (or even just a TV and speakers set up over in the outdoor cafe they had at EPCOT) would definitely shine at least more of a spotlight on the incredible effort put into these.
In order to realize this dream of ours, we need support from other teams to ask FIRST if an arrangement like this is possible and to try to get one set up. Any other suggestions would also be appreciated. Thanks!

I agree. It would be very cool, i hate having to wait for the silly tape to show up whenever it does... couldn't we get one when we register on site? (i sure hope time isn't the issue cause i know how long it takes to duplicate massive amounts of tape)

there are a lot of manhours/money being poured into this and not enough people get to see the results
