Re: 2008 Motor Specs
I haven't found actual specs on the the Taigene motor, but we have determined that it is REALLY WIMPY compared to a similar-looking one we have, probably from 2005. Our very scientific tests involved connecting the two motors to a battery in both directions and observing how much the motors "jump" from torque reaction. The old one jumps a lot more. Our second test was of the "don't try this at home" variety. A person held the motor in one hand and an adjustable wrench on the output shaft in the other hand while a second person connected the motor wires to a battery. The old motor had a lot more torque. The motors have different worm and ring gear designs, and they also have different "winds."

Re: 2008 Motor Specs
I see these specs posted by teams about the Taigene Van Door Motor the what FIRST has posted on its website. My question is will FIRST ever post official performance specs about the Taigene Motor?

Re: 2008 Motor Specs
The "jump" should be a good indicator if the mass of the armatures of both motors is the same, but I don't know for sure that it is. The "wrench on the shaft" test is a sure indicator of a difference, though.

Re: 2008 Motor Specs
Where can I find information regarding the gear pitch and such dimensions etc, for this years FP motor? I think I missed something this year...
Thanks, -Bharat |

Re: 2008 Motor Specs
The pinion on the motor should be 32 pitch. I think this year's is 19 tooth, but you can verify that by counting the teeth.

Re: 2008 Motor Specs
Ok, I'm really confused and really tired. My team needs to use the 16627960 Motor and the 16631023 Motor TOGETHER. Meaning we need to know if they run with the same specs I guess. Would it work having them oh lets say on opposite sides of the same shaft running to flip it up? For us if they don't run exactly the same it will destroy itself (trust me we know.) Anyway, I've been working to try to figure this out for several hours, any help would be really appriciated. I looked at Keyangs website AND FIRSTs official specs, Keyang isn't any help and FIRSTs specs are too small (and side ways on my screen) to read.

Re: 2008 Motor Specs
The specs on the FIRST website are the same; points on the corners are 22-41 RPM @ 6 Nm, 45-64 RPM @ 1.8 Nm.

Re: 2008 Motor Specs
JVN spec for denso motor does not seem right.
JVN listed Stall torque for Nippon Denso motor of 9.2 N-m works out to 6.78 ft lbs. In testing today, we measured ~12 lbs force on ~ 2 foot weightless arm today using a decent load cell. This is closer to 24 ft lbs so this is different from JVN spec by a factor of almost 4. Does anyone have any test results on the Denso motor. |
