Travelocity message

I'm searching online for flight and hotel information for Championships in Atlanta, and the Travelocity website came back with this message:

Some important information to know about your destination.
Limited availability in Atlanta due to the First Robotics Competition and Championship in town.
The 2008 Masters will be held in Augusta, GA from April 7-13, 2008. Availability of accommodations and services may be limited April 4th through April 15th. Plan ahead and check for traffic delays during this time.


I guess we've made the Big Time when Travelocity mentions us!

400ish total FIRST teams in town, even if everyone one only brought 15 people total, that's still an extra 6000 people (+volunteers, etc.) in Atlanta snatching up hotel rooms that weekend. At about 4ppl/room that's 1500 less hotel rooms in Atlanta. In reality, its much more than that, meaning fairly significant travel effects. Makes sense Travelocity would mention it.

Thats strange they give the date for the 2008 Masters but not FRC Champs. But then it says that its only going to be 4th through the 15th. Championships start on the 17th.

Many of the volunteers arrive on Tuesday, April 15 to assist with setup before all the teams arrive! I was searching flights and hotels beginning April 15 so that is probably why the message came that way - maybe there is an overlap of people staying in Atlanta after the Master's is over and people arriving for FIRST.
