Re: Please help.....Taigene window motors

Ours lifts 30+ pounds of elevator no problem. I think the torque is around 30 f-lbs or so

Re: Please help.....Taigene window motors

You probably cannot buy them anywhere, since it does not appear on the IFI FIRST parts store page

http://www.ifirobotics.com/first-store.shtml

But it is likely that there will be teams bringing their unused motors to the regional competitions, so you might be able to scrounge one if needed.

Also you can post a wanted ad on the CD-swap, maybe a team who's not using the motor will give/sell you theirs.

Re: Please help.....Taigene window motors

to hook them up to the victors? My team put one on today, we just cut the wires and added extenders to them to reach the victors.

Is anyone having problems with these motors? They're supposed to do something like 75 rpm. But we're getting about 35 rpm out of them. We check the battery and even ran it off of an independent power supply and they were still running slowly. Our elevator was supposed to reach top in 4 seconds, we're getting there in 8-10 seconds. Anyone else having this problem?

I don't have the motor specs in front of me, but if that is where you got 75 RPM from it is almost certainly Free Speed or No Load Speed. This is how fast the motor shaft rotates with no load on it whatsoever. With a load on it the motor shaft will rotate slower. How much slower depends on the motor curve, a good approximation for the curve is a straight line from the no load speed to the stall torque.

Free speed or loaded speed? Usually, motor speeds are given as free speed. Typically, you want to design the motor for 75% of free speed while under load. It sounds like you didn't, so you may need to do a redesign.
